Shah Rukh Khan or as people lovingly call him , King Khan has been ruling the hearts across the world for more than two decades now .Love him or hate him , you just can’t ignore him. We bring you 5 of his film roles that in our opinion are his best.
Mohan Bhargava – Swades (2004)
Swades , directed by Ashutosh Gowariker was undoubtedly a masterpiece and Shah Rukh’s portrayal of Mohan Bhargava was a milestone in the history of Hindi Film Industry . Shahrukh was natural and effortless as Mohan and we regard Mohan Bhargava as one of his best character ever. It is a pity that he was not considered for the National Award for the role.
Kabir Khan – Chak De India (2007)
Chak De India ! would not have been what it is if Shah Rukh Khan had not played the angry not so young coach of the much spoilt Indian women’s hockey team. Kabir was charming , suave and his one stern look could give goose bumps to anyone. SRK carved a niche with his phenomenal performance in the movie . Our favourite scene , his expressions when his team wins in the end.
Devdas Mukherjee – Devdas (2002)
Kaun Kambakht Bardaasht Karne Ke Liye Peeta Hai?
Bimal Roy’s Devdas , Dilip Kumar confessed in an interview that if there is any actor who could do justice to the role of Devdas , it is Shah Rukh and Dilip saahab was proven right , thanks to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas starring King Khan. Shah Rukh was so supercalifragilisticexpialidocious as a drunkard lovelorn couple that while watching the film , the audience forgot that an actor is playing the role and not drinking and crying and howling in the real life. Shahrukh played Devdas so convincingly that his name became synonym to the classic-fictitious character and he bagged all the awards for the role.
Rizwan Khan – My Name Is Khan (2010)
Rizwan Khan , from the epiglottis! Remember when Shah Rukh played an absolutely delightful and heartwarming role in Karan Johar’s stirring movie , My Name Is Khan . In the movie his character Rizwan had asperger’s syndrome and was gifted with a special knowledge and brilliance of repairing almost anything. The movie was a huge hit and SRK bagged all of the best actor trophies for the role.
Sunil – Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na (1993)
Now this once is very special . Sunil from Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa is Shah Rukh Khan’s most favourite role and why not ! We strongly believe Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na could not have received applauds it did had Shahrukh not played Sunil with such charm and perfection. In fact , director Kundan Shah once confessed that he used to take retakes even after getting the perfect take just too see Shah Rukh perform. Full of youth , full of enigma , full of energy , Shah Rukh Khan was so good in the movie that the movie and his character continues to remain one of the favorites amongst his fans even after 13 years of its release. Indeed , yeh to hai albela.
Honourable Mention :
Aman Mathur – Kal Ho Na Ho (2003)
Without a single doubt Aman Mathur , ‘the annoying-yet-charming neighbour’ is one of the SRK’s most lovable and adorable roles. Full of life , and extremely zestful Shahrukh was so endearing in this movie that his character , Aman made a special place in everybody’s heart.
Ajay Sharma – Baazigar
Because you need special talents to confuse the audience whether you are an antagonist or a protagonist.
Don – Don (2006) and Don (2011)
Yeah Yeah Yeah. He was a villain , he killed people , he was a mafia. But did you see how smooth Shah Rukh was as the killer Don. He made an antagonist the synonym of Sass and oomph! Such is the magic of Shah Rukh Khan.
The film might have tanked at the box office but it doesn’t deter the fact that Shah Rukh Khan was effortless as chant Ashok and the adorable lover , Pawan!
Oh we love you Shah Rukh Khan !!!
